In Spain, there is a word for that magic time spent at the table chatting and slowly sipping the last of your drink. It’s called sobremesa (literally “over” the table) and it’s permission to linger after a meal in good company. So for our first issue of Infinite Weekend, we’re sharing stories of food and a few recipes to encourage you to slow down and spend time at the table with the ones you love.

We’re Rose & Dave and we moved to Valencia, Spain just over a year ago. We expected to stay for just a year, but fell in love with the culture and pace of life. We’ve learned a lot on this adventure—like speaking a new language!—but our favorite discovery has been the many ways of making creativity part of our daily lives.
This project comes from our desire to record our memories so life doesn’t just pass us by. When we began to create this zine, we were thinking about the same thing that’s always on our mind—eating.
